Flight

The ripples in the air
Quivered gently unafraid
Silencing shadows quelled the darkness
Glistening dew sparkled the earth

A head lifted, two eyes wary
Dark irises glittered wildly
The steady hums of the silent breathing
Gave it all away

A twig snapped, the peace was broken
It whirled about in horror
A desperate leap it fled away
Leaving its wake in a hurry

Pursuing forward, ignoring its back
It pushed its pace farther
With silent motion it unfurled itself
And soared gracefully to the sky

Oh, what is it, what can it be?
The creature above the trees
The hunted fled the hunter angered
The trees mocked the actions
